The games took place on courts 13 to 16 at the Zijing Tennis Center, which currently serves as Tsinghua\u2019s shared pickleball venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the competition, two faculty members from the Department of Physical Education said that Tsinghua currently has around 16 pickleball courts, placing it among the most active universities nationwide in promoting the sport. Its hallmark is accessibility \u2014 players can learn the basics in less than ten minutes, and the game requires smaller courts and lighter equipment than tennis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a backyard hobby, pickleball has evolved into one of the world\u2019s fastest-growing recreational sports. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/pickleball.com\/industry\/pickleball-was-fastest-growing-sport-in-u-s-for-fourth-consecutive-year-according-to-sfia\">Sports &amp; Fitness Industry Association (SFIA)<\/a>, participation in the United States reached 19.8 million players in 2024, up 45.8% year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Globally, pickleball has become a billion-dollar market. Young people are growing especially fond of the game,\u201d describing it as a mix of competition and social connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>On Campus: Competition and Community<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For Tsinghua, one of China\u2019s leading universities, pickleball represents more than a fitness trend \u2014 it\u2019s part of a shift toward inclusive, student-driven sports culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ma Yuehan Cup, named after the early 20th-century pioneer of Chinese physical education, has long symbolized Tsinghua\u2019s athletic spirit.
